Add on Sites VS Backup Sites in Clinical Research

Sponsors typically keep a number of sites in reserve as backup sites which can be activated in the event that recruitment is not going as expected. When backup sites are not enough, sponsors must act quickly to find add on sites that can help with study enrollment. Being labeled as a backup or an add on might not be ideal but it should be looked at as an opportunity for site owners to show sponsors how resourceful the site is.
