In all clinical trials, your personal information and privacy are protected. Your information is never shared with anyone outside of the immediate study team at the research clinic. The drug companies who sponsor the studies do get to see the raw data of all clinical trial participants, but they never know your identity or any identifying information. Once you enroll in a study, your data is recorded under a unique subject number that identifies you. Therefore, there is no need to worry about insurers or employers ever finding out that you participated in a clinical trial. The law that protects this information is called HIPAA.
