I had the pleasure of interviewing Vicki Harris, who several years ago, participated in a clinical trial for a pain medication after receiving a free hysterectomy. Vicki was in need of a hysterectomy but her insurance plan did not cover such a procedure. she happened to have heard an advertisement on the radio for a clinical trial in which she would get a hysterectomy for free, combined with a clinical trial for pain medication. This fantastic and uplifting story shows that clinical trials very often do benefit the trial participants themselves, in addition to future generations that may benefit from the data provided from these clinical trials.
