It is very important for anyone considering a clinical trial to do as much homework about clinical trials as they can, and even to do their due diligence on learning as much as they can on the study drug, the actual protocol of the trial, and any data that is available regarding the trial. Through our experiences and conversations with hundreds of clinical trial participants, we’ve noticed that the study participants who have had good experiences with their clinical trials are usually the ones who knew their expectations going into the study, and also the ones who did their homework on the study drug and the clinical trial. The take home message is to never join a clinical trial just because someone tells you its a good idea. Do your homework, get informed, know your expectations, and then make an INFORMED decision.
